Gaya's paintings

Close

Other techniques

My painting is a journey looking for lights, textures and colors in the space. Hallucination, a word close to the truth seems to me the most appropriate word to define the first phase of conception. It can be interesting to let one's self be completely lead instinctively without a lot of reflection. I never ask why. Once the idea has formed, it is the painting which guides me step by step. Moreover I like to show the small details that I discover by chance. I really like to have surprises with a new texture leading me to unexpected discoveries and new emotions.

My abstract painting is side by side with the figurative on this journey, advance is made by rejecting what is not essential. It's like in a symphony, it is not necessary to reproduce the exact sound of a stream, it is enough that the music evokes it.

Curriculum vitae

Gaya Staniszewska - Friedlender was born in Bydgoszcz (Poland).
She attended the Academy of Arts in Gdansk (Poland) in the department of painting and sculpture. Gaya graduated with a degree and was awarded the Rector's prize for her high level of painting.

Gaya seen by Rita Reutrer-Jeanty

Gaya’s painting is an open work par excellence allowing the onlooker a multitude of interpretations. Gaya is not a restful and easy painter.
She revives the archetypes. In front of her paintings the viewer often finds himself before optical impasses. Expresses again which the unusual logic of mystery of the creature.

Gaya seen by J.Nidegger

But look how the color throws its bewitching magic and gives by itself an imposing dimension to the painting. It brings out beings of all reality by its continuous modulation sliding into the depths. It is certain that the painter sacrifices the sharpness of the painting to her dominant skill of creating a mask of color, plunging / thrusting her creation into a fascinating atmosphere. Here she has chosen to leave a real allure to some elements while transforming others in order to ensure a sufficient realism. Gaya is mistress of fantasy and the use of forms and even more in the intoxicating notes of browns and reds. Gaya has imagination, power of composition and the magic of color.

Gaya seen by J.Reymond

The artist’s unique ways of getting inspired already give his painting a high standing. Her creation takes the creative act to the limits of abstraction. You have to stop by her triptychs to discover another picture and then another vision. Gaya’s virtuosity can be attributed to a very solid composition and a high level of precision where the harmonious union of the whole set of pictorial techniques highlight a solid mastery of her art. Gaya is one of those unique artists who make us enter into the violent softness of the human landscape characterized by order and beauty.
